The Physiology Major

The physiology major requires at least 30 units, most of which are upper division courses (300- and 400-level). The prerequisites for each physiology (PSIO) upper-division course must be completed before taking the course. Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in PSIO 201 and PSIO 202 (Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II) before taking upper-division PSIO courses.

There are several sets of requirements that must be met for the BS in Health Sciences degree. These include: University requirements, General Education requirements, Physiology Pre-Major requirements, and Physiology Major requirements (both required and elective courses).

These program requirements for the physiology major and the BS in Health Sciences degree are summarized in the following documents.

University Requirements Summary

The Academic Program Requirements Report (APRR) for the physiology major displays the requirements and approved courses for this program.

The Physiology Major Curriculum Guideline check sheet and sample four-year plans for completing the physiology major are provided to assist students in meeting university, college, and major requirements.

It is strongly recommended that students meet with a physiology academic advisor each semester during their undergraduate career.
